    Modern Batman Birthday

Walt had a birthday last week, and I am still trying to get over the fact that my once teenie baby is now THREE!  This year is going to be the last year that I host a birthday party at home for him for awhile, so it was my last chance to go all out decorating my house with cute kids decor until Oliver gets older.  Walt is obsessed with superheroes, particularly Batman, so I knew right away that would be the perfect theme.  Utilizing Batman’s color scheme allowed me to keep the decor monochrome.  We learned the hard way on his first birthday not to spend a ton of money on decor, as it rained the entire time and ruined everything!  I was thrilled that we were blessed with great weather (minus the BLAZING heat that day with 100% humidity), but this time I was able to find all of his decorations, including invitations, shipped from my favorite new company in Austrailia for under $200! Picture Taking Tips for Moms with Toddlers & Babies

Stressed out kids unhappy with taking a picture

I get a lot of questions about how I get pictures with both of my boys paying attention to the camera at the same time.  Here are a few things that have worked for me.  Let me start off by saying this: I’m not above bribery!  It’s no easy task getting the picture I envision if Walt is having a “toddler” day, but with a lot of trial and error, I’ve figured out a few things that work amazingly (most of the time).

Disney with an Infant and Tot: Part 1

There are so many things about my first trip to Disney that I remember vividly.  I remember excitedly walking through the gates of the park, my first glimpse of the castle, standing in line to get EVERY autograph from EVERY character we came across, eating my first Mickey Mouse ice cream sandwich, and watching the fireworks show, in awe of every booming spectacle.  I also remember the long drive to Orlando that I thought would never end, getting carsick and having to pull over on the way down, and that time my mom laid my sister’s panties out to dry in the sun on a rock because they got soaking wet on Splash Mountain.  You know, the usual family vacation type memories.  I wanted Walt and Ollie’s first trip to Disney to be just as memorable, and we definitely succeeded in that regard earlier this year! Friendcation

You know when you get into the car to leave a vacation and you just have an overall sense of sadness?  We’ve got major vacation blues in our house right now.  This past Mother’s Day weekend we spent it at the beach with all of our best friends and their babies.  We had the best time!  Ten adults, two kids, three toddlers and three babies all under one roof.  The ultimate friendcation!  We stayed in the Seagrove Beach area of 30A, a few miles East of Seaside.  It was BEAUTIFUL!!

Sleep Peacefully: Owlet Smart Sock 2

Oliver is moving into his nursery soon, and I’ve been so nervous about it.  We like the comfort of having him in his bassinet right beside our bed and knowing he is doing well.  I have that crazy heightened hearing at night time that so many mamas get when one of our babies are in our room.  I hear EVERYTHING.  A different stroke of him sucking on his paci, a yawn, a sweet little coo, a stretch, I feel like I can even hear when Ollie blinks, haha!  I’m saying all of this to say, I know how he is doing every night because I have the luxury of looking at him whenever I want and making sure his little chest is moving up and down.  When he moves into his nursery I won’t be able to hear all of these little movements. to know my baby is completely safe.  I’ve had so much anxiety about the big move until I got an Owlet Smart Sock 2. KidloLand: A Great App for Tots

    KidloLand - Piloting Life

You know those moments when you just need your tot to sit still for a little bit, but you don’t want them watching endless (and super weird) youtube videos?  I’ve had the worst luck with apps I’ve downloaded that just don’t keep Walt’s attention for very long, which results in him wanting to get on Youtube.  Well, I’ve finally found an app that keeps his attention perfectly!  KidloLand is my new favorite app because it is educational and covers so many different subjects, while also engaging Walt and keeping his attention. Lorena Canals Rugs

I recently got a Lorena Canals rug after eyeing them for quite a while.  I saw them all over Instagram and finally decided to try one out.  I was instantly attracted to them because they are MACHINE WASHABLE.  How perfect is that??  People always ask me how I keep my house so clean with all the white, but it really is quite easy.  Machine washable rugs just make that job a little bit easier though with my “schnack” obsessed tot! Travel Flashback: Honeymoon Bliss at Fiji’s Namale Resort

Enjoying a meal at the famous blowhole deck at the Namale resort in Fiji

When Davis and I got engaged and began planning our wedding, one of the most exciting parts of the process was planning the honeymoon.  We both love to travel, so we knew we wanted to go somewhere exotic after we made our vows.  After figuring out most of the details of the ceremony, we started searching the Internet for the perfect place to spend our first moments of marital bliss.  I can honestly say we found the perfect place for us; a hidden gem called Namale in the islands of Fiji.
